24 fished, BCAC 163:5 NDMG 136:5 Brisk northerly breeze and bright conditions proved challenging for most but the Bude anglers adapted best and came out deserved winners. Top weight on the day went to Arnie on the bottom basin his catch of skimmers fell to bread on the feeder, Bude’s captain ,Simon put on a master class on the long pole for 2nd place, top weight for NDMG was John 3rd overall on the bottom basin. Thanks to Bude for hosting the event and we hope to hold the return leg on Tamar Lake in October.

The latest  open match  on Tanners and Woodpecker lakes result from Joanne Combes
Our top weight of the day was from Mark Layzelle who bagged 150lb 10oz from peg 3 on Tanners Lake.
In 2nd place was Lee Werrett with 136lb from peg 7 on Woodpecker Lake.
In 3rd place was Sam Powell with 148lb 3oz from peg 7 on Tanners Lake
In 4th place was Stuart Hathway with 101lb 12oz from peg 17 on Woodpecker Lake

13 fished Hot cloudy conditions made for a very tough match, bites were very hard to come by, John led the way with a mixed bag on the pole on maggot on peg 9 across the dam, Thomas had a similar net on the feeder for 2nd on peg 13 also on the far side . Martin had roach 2ft deep on the waggler and 20 ft deep on the pole for 3rd. Colin was top weight on the first bank , his 4th place was taken on the feeder.

A classic Indian summer day led to a close match on George’s lake , Kevin fished the pole with maggot on peg 13 , a late run of skimmers brought him victory, over Colin’s mainly carp net on peg 16 , third was another mixed pole net on peg 11 , Steve has caught mainly on the feeder on peg 17 for fourth spot. Richard’s bread on the pole method was fifth.

Thomas has continued his remarkable run with another winning catch, he has drawn peg 9 on the roadside and fished a small hybrid feeder out to the island with micros , he also caught long and short on the pole, second place went to another of our younger anglers, Craig has mainly caught on the long pole on peg 2 , 3rd spot went to John his catch , unusually, was only 13 fish, all on corn in the margins on peg 5 in the channel.4th spot went to Martin on peg 7 bomb and pellets and pole. John drew peg 18 and landed his 5th place mainly on the method. The foreshortening summer league has been convincingly won by Thomas Downing with 180points joint second Nathan Underwood and Martin Turner both on 45 points.

Thirteen  fished, conditions were perfect overcast , warm and light winds, pegs 1,2and 3 on the far side of the dam have dominated, Graham on peg 2 has fished the open end feeder with corn at 40 turns, for a fantastic net of skimmers, big roach and rudd ,to win . Tom’s winning run came to an end but he still managed second on peg 3 another great net of silver fish ,on pole and feeder. Colin suffered cormorant trouble on his feeder line but still achieved 3rd place.

Kevin Shears led the team to a decisive victory with his pole caught net of carp on peg 2 ,on lake 1 , Matt was 2nd on lake 4 he would probably have topped 100lb but unfortunately lost his 3rd net through a ripped hole. John was the only Plymouth angler to make the top.8, his third place was on lake 4 nextdoor to Matt, A day of great weather added to a good match, and we hope that next year we can return to the 2-leg event.
