Tarka has again produced some excellent weights, the winner on the day put together a great net of carp and bream on peg 19. Stephen has fished soft pellet over micros on the short pole. 9oz behind was Kevin on 17 , using similar tactics but with worm over groundbait and corn in the margin. League leader Nathan has put together another great net of smaller carp and skimmers on peg 11 for 3rd place. Craig also put a big 30lb on the scales off peg 9 for 4th place.

18 fished, The penultimate match of the summer series was fished in warm still conditions, another close competition saw Richard at the top of the pile, with a catch of 6 carp on peg 13 , using his favoured strong line tactics with bread flake. Kevin lost a carp on pellet waggler which would have secured a hat trick of consecutive wins , instead he settled for 2nd on peg 18 , Stephen on peg 8 left it late but 2 decent carp in the closing stages made 3rd spot Martin’s joint 4th with Les has put him 7 points clear in the league with one match remaining.

Sea Angling Results

Bideford Angling Club and Appledore Shipbuilders hold their monthly sea rovers on the first Sunday of each month and both clubs allow competitors to fish over a very wide area of the South West including  Devon, Dorset and Cornwall. Their results highlight the vast the vast range of species available to anglers in the South West.

3rd – Martin Turner 3lb 14oz.

Members enjoyed a rare still and dry winters day, but the chilled waters meant that fish were hard to find , Craig caught 3 small carp plus some nice roach on maggot on the pole, coarse section secretary Steve drew peg 3 and managed 1 small carp and some nice silver fish also on pole fished red maggot for 2nd. David and Martin faced each other across the lake and both weighed in 3lb 14oz of small silver fish for joint third.

Final monthly Coarse section competition results  Sundays final match was also our Christmas comp, we fished at the club lake ,Tarka swims, .Competitors were met with challenging conditions, and one fish caught in the last minute of the comp proved to be enough to clinch victory, for Martin Turner the mirror carp of 8lb took popped up bread on the straight lead on peg J, this fish didn’t prove to be significant in the overall points table , John Lisle wins the championship with 118pts 2nd Martin Turner 115 3rd Steve Baily on 87 4th Colin Gorman 79 The league has been well supported with 26 competitors over the last 16 months, our league begins again on Jan 8th on Harepie.

After a week of indifferent weather , our members were rewarded with a pleasant summers day. Keith took the honours on peg S with 2 large carp and some perch, he also scooped the golden peg for a bonus’ payday’ . Martin Turner took 2 carp and 2 bream on peg P for 2nd , Martin Hawker had 2 carp on the pole in corner peg M. The silvers bag went to John with 2 big bream and some perch.

Bideford Match Result

A beautiful day greeted an almost full house for Bidefords Monthly Coarse Match competition. Craig Lamey landed 4 large carp on banded pellet in the margins on the pole. John took 3 on the pole on peg D , Pete landed the largest on the day with a pole caught specimen on luncheon meat, it went 14lb 14oz off peg I. Several good bream,carp and a nice perch made up the backing weights.

Blustery conditions proved tricky John found some large carp willing to feed in the margins on double corn, Colin fished with prawn bait on a feeder.

Lovely weather for mid November; despite this the fishing was hard work. Craig landed 2 carp and 2 big bream on pole fished maggot to secure victory. Tony’s single carp of nearly 10lb narrowly pipped Ian’s 2 fish . The silvers pool was won by John Lisle with a single bream of 2lb 2oz .Next club comp will be the Christmas match at Tarka on Dec 11th.
