Many thanks to Martin Turner for his regular match reports from both the North Devon Match Group and Bideford Club. Good to see a tight match with small silvers making up the weights instead of bulky carp. Whilst there is undoubtedly more rod bending in the commercial match’s full of carp there is more refined skill in extracting a net of small fish to compile a net.

Christopher Morris has drawn peg 20 on lake 4 , and caught most of his winning net in the margins on the pole.  Simon Maunder has had a similar catch also on the pole on sweetcorn from lake 1 peg 5 for second, , Paul Elworthy also on lake 1 has taken 3rd place with a small ground-bait feeder and maggots. Lake 3 has proved the toughest Graham has taken top weight with his 8th place. Thanks to Stuart Sharp  for permitting us to use the lakes and providing breakfast rolls.

A big well done to Graham Currington who weighed in 11lb 12oz of tip caught skimmers from peg 6 which was the middle of the wall, road side, next peg was Chris Morris who pushed him all the way with 11lb 8oz of mainly whip caught roach, this was easily enough to give Chris the overall win of this years winter league.
Third was Nathan Underwood from peg 9 with 6lb 10oz mainly pole caught roach, and 4th was Paul Elworthy with 4lb 10oz, including a nice perch.
With a nasty wind blowing onto the far bank all anglers were pegged on the road side, unfortunately for myself and Wayne Murton we ended up by the car park and between us Wayne thinks he might of had a sucked maggot.

Eight fished . A mild , dry but windy day encouraged some of the larger bream to feed and with a reduced entry we all fished on the first bank. The roach proved difficult to tempt but Paul didn’t need any , his six bream caught on triple red maggot on a groundbait feeder on peg 4 was the convincing winner, Chris, on peg 5 landed 3 bream on the pole for second edging Martin into third with a mostly Rudd net on peg one.
