Anglers are enjoying good boat sport off Ilfracombe with tope. Paul Lorrimore and Troy Laing were amongst anglers on Reel Deal to enjoy a day with these hard fighting members of the shark family.

Stefan Jones enjoyed a great days sport boating over twenty pack tope in a day afloat in his own private boat.
Summer tope on the way
Dan Hawkins ventured out near Lundy Island on with a party of anglers and they enjoyed success with the first tope of season along with bull huss, pollock, coalfish, whiting and the inevitable dogfish.They also enjoyed the spectacle of dolphins, porpoises and seals. Dan skipper of Reel Deal commented that such days make his job so enjoyable.
Toothy Predators on the prowl as the storm passes!
Big fish are on the feed moving close inshore to feast on the food dislodged by storm Eleanor. Several anglers have enjoyed success as the waters have calmed. The window of opportunity is often short as a bitter North East wind is now tearing down channel chilling any angler out there to the bone.
Ali Laird enjoyed the session of a lifetime when he fished a North Devon rock mark to land a fine tope of 29lb 10oz(Above) and spurdog of 9lb 15oz and 9lb 8oz. (Below)
Fellow club member Dan Miles Redmore was also delighted to land his first ever shore caught tope weighing 33lb 10oz.

Jansen Teakle manager at Veal’s Mail Order made a trip from the Bristol area to fish the North Devon coast and was rewarded with a fine tope off 37lb 10oz. The fish was successfully landed using Varivas catfish hooks as featured in my recent news story regarding Kevin Legge.
Appledore Club Record tope!
Jack Pike landed this stunning 52lb tope whilst fishing with his father Kevin who boated a 45lb 8oz that was reported on here yesterday. The fish sets a new boat record for Appledore Shipbuilders beating the old record of 46lb that was caught by the late Ralph Atkinson.
Kevin tempts ten tope to 45lb 8oz in 3 hour session!
Kevin Pike fished Morte Bay in his own boat to land ten tope in three hours. All of the fish were tempted on pollock hook baits the biggest a fine hard fighting fish of 45lb 8oz.

The Atkinson family enjoyed some great sport during Appledore Shipbuilders boat competition. In addition to the fish brought to the scales they enjoyed sport with numerous hard fighting tope.
