North Devon Match Group – Upper Tamar Lake

North Devon Match Group fished at Upper Tamar where it proved  very tough going for most! very cold and with the wind forecast to blow hard onto the Cornish bank they decided to fish the early pegs on the Devon bank.   Paul Elworthy fished an outstanding match winning by a country mile with 29lb 15oz, skimmers on the tip did the trick with corn on the hook, next to Paul, Graham Colman fished the same and ended up with 16lb 8oz, Neilsen Jeffery finished third with mostly perch on the whip weighing 10lb 9 oz and last in the money was Benjamin Woods who weighed in 7lb 10oz on the tip from the goarse bush peg.

1st Martin Turner 33lb 3oz

2nd Thomas Scott (junior) 29lb

3rd John Lisle 20lb 6oz

4th Kevin Shears 18lb 9oz

5th Stephen Craker 13lb 6oz

6th Tyler Scott (junior) 12lb 15oz Joint

7th Nathan Underwood and Ian Sedgwick 12lb 6oz

16 anglers fished, Today’s match produced a very close result , Martin’s catch on peg R , was made up of 6 large carp, caught on 8mm pellets and bread, tipped the balance. Junior member Thomas Scott has really sorted out the notorious peg L and had a terrific bag of mainly carp on red maggots on the pole for second overall. John Lisle has come in third another carp net and fourth with a great net of silverfish and small carp was Kevin Shears. Fifth spot went to Stephen Craker a long pole and punch, Tyler Scott came in 6th. Weather was damp and breezy this seems to have encouraged the larger carp to feed.

16 fished, Paul Morris has begun the Winter League campaign with a resounding victory on peg 2 ,the reed beds on lake 3 , he has fished the short pole with pellets , and switched to shallow occasionally.2nd place went to Colin on peg 9 beside the inlet on pool 4 , again a short pole job. Kevin’s 3rd place was on peg 3 on pool 3. Conditions were breezy but dry, and Wooda Fishery again produced a good match.

Bude Canal Angler Club v North Devon Match Group 2nd leg @ Bude Canal .

Bude take victory 164 points to 136. Overall 321 to 276. Despite filling the top 3 individual places NDMG lost their away leg on a very windy canal,  Chris Morris sat on peg 19 on the bottom basin and landed a 15lb 2oz net of bream on the groundbait feeder for victory, 2nd John Lisle ,on the top basin , 13lb 8oz including a 10lb carp , 3rd spot also on the top basin was Kevin Shears with a pole caught 8lb 10oz . Top Bude rod Mark Gratton 8lb 6oz peg 16, Well done Bude a thoughly well deserved victory. Thanks Simon John Allen  and the Brendon Arms .

Twenty six anglers fished in the latest match on Tanners and Woodpecker Lakes

1st place was Darren Painter peg 20 on Tanners with 148lb 13oz

2nd place was Jeb Attwood peg 20 on Woodpecker lake with 143lb 4oz

3rd place was Martin Heard peg 6 on Tanners lake with 122lb 6oz

Today’s comp was fished in bright breezy conditions. The top 3 have all caught on the groundbait feeders using corn and maggots on the hook. The very clear water has led to tricky fishing John was end peg on the far bank and just pipped Paul drawn opposite him,

The latest residents match on Tanners lake with 21 fishing.

 Top weight of the day was from Ant Thornhill who bagged himself 188lb 3oz from peg 5.

2nd was Mark Goggins (goggy) who bagged 169lb 3oz from peg 10.

                                                                                                     3rd was Nick Roberts peg 17 with 150lb 13oz.

 

Open match on Tanners and Woodpecker lakes 

1st place was Sean Brennan with 224lb 4oz from peg 17 on Tanners lake fab weight

2nd place was Ant Thornhill with 130lb 11oz frommpeg 19 on Woodpecker lake

3rd place was Jamie Bradshaw with 197lb 11oz from peg 20 on Tanners lake

14 fished August monthly competition , the bright breezy conditions were interrupted with heavy showers. Tarka has fished well , plenty of fish of all species were brought to the scales. The winner, Martin Turner landed 3 larger carp , and a bag of bream and roach off of peg I , Stephen Craker drew peg X and dispite wrecking another top 4 managed to wrestle out 5 bruisers on pellets, Steve Bailey sat on peg P and pole fished corn in the margins landing a mainly bream net for 3rd. Pete Slade’s 4th place from peg U was made up of over 200 smaller fish caught on the pole.5th and 6th were on opposite sides of the deeper end of lake.
