North Devon Match Group Summer League No.1 Wooda Lakes

Despite our efforts that man Shears has secured yet another victory! Kevin drew on the road side on lake 4 and landed 20 carp on corn on the pole in the margins. Christopher drew on one of the reed beds on lake 3 for second also on corn on the pole. Martin was next peg to him , and caught on bread and maggots. The spring day started well for the 17 competitors but deteriorated in to sleet by the time we weighed in .Thanks to Start Sharp for allowing us to use both lakes and providing breakfast rolls.

Stafford Moor 2018 – Silvers Festival

Winner of Stafford Moors March Silvers Festival 2018 is Mark Goddard who won with just 5 points and a total weight of 98lb 8oz ! Mark also won the Largest bag of 37lb 9oz from peg 10 on Pines. In second place was  Des Shipp who had also 5 points with a total weight of 85lb 6oz.  In third place was Dave Smith with 9 points and a total weight of 82lb 15oz. Jo at Stafford Moor said “Thank you all so much for a fantastic week, really enjoyed seeing you all again and meeting some new faces. Thank you for your amazing support.

North Devon Match Group Championship No. 2 Millpark Results

Many thanks to Martin once again for his report on the North Devon Match Groups match at Mill Pond. Some stunning nets of roach in this close run event. This has to be one of the best silver fish waters in the area! A venue I have many fond memories of as I caught my first coarse fish there almost fifty years ago!

10 of our members enjoyed a rare mild early spring day on Millpark Berrynarbor, but try as we might we cannot put an end to Kevin’s remarkable run of wins!! He drew on the platform below the car park and amassed a super net of quality roach on caster on a short pole, Pete Slade drew on the stream side and took second spot with a 9lb carp and a nice net of skimmers and roach all on the pole and soft pellet, Martin came in third with an all roach net, Nathan’s bag included a nice chub.

Monthly Coarse Section Match Results Lakeview Morchard Rd.

1st Martin Turner 42lb 8oz

Sunday’s competitors were faced with a strong, and very cold North Westerly wind and flurry’s of sleet and snow .Martin Turner took the top weight on peg 5 ,using double red maggots on a 9 metre pole, his first bite came nearly 2 hours into the comp. Steve adopted similar tactics and a feeder on peg 4 to catch 17 small carp for second spot. John caught 11 carp on peg 11,late into the match for 3rd spot. Next Comp March 11th at Highampton Fishery.

20 anglers turn up on a very cold but  dry day, in the vain hope of beating Kevin .He drew peg 17 on the top  lake and once again   showed us all how its done !! Kevin fished the  pole with maggot for an all carp net, John Lacy also on the top lake caught his net of carp on sweetcorn on the pole, Top weight of the 10 anglers on the bottom pool was John Forster with a pole catch of small carp on ,corn and maggot. from unfancied peg 11, Nathan Underwood was on peg 7 on the bottom lake and took 4th spot with some nice carp on the pole ,all on red maggot.

Stafford Moor Fishery hosted our January Championship competition , the gale force winds and driving rain ,meant that fishing was less than comfortable for most! Despite this John fished a great match on the pole and sweetcorn on peg 18 on Oak lake, he landed 27 carp for a convincing victory over second placed Dave who landed 53lb of carp from peg 18 on Woodys lake ,Nathan took 3rd spot also from Woody’s peg 20.  John 4th from peg 9 Woodys.Second best weight on Oak and 5th overall was Kevin on peg 14.

Wooda Lakes – Fur N Feather Result

Twenty anglers fished the 2017 Fur n Feather match held across lakes 3 and 4. With cold water coming into the lakes and a gusty wind, it was not easy fishing.

Kevin Shears (Above), pegged on the trackside on lake 4, took the win with 62lb 3oz of pole caught carp. Second overall was Paul Ware, on the point peg on lake 3, with 47lb 3oz. Martin Turner(Below) was third with 45lb 1oz from the wood side of lake 4.

The random pairs was won by Shaun Stenton and Kevin Shears with a total of 101lb.

All anglers went away with a range of prizes.

Today’s conditions were very challenging, with bitter cold easterly wind making presentation difficult for the 16 competitors .

Neilsen’s catch of 40 carp was taken on peg17 with double red maggot on the pole over groundbait, Christopher used similar tactics for second spot, Michael’s catch of 29 carp came from peg 5 also on the pole with maggot . Martin Turner gives thanks to all for supporting the club and welcomes the new members .

NDMG Championship No12 and Christmas competition

 Once again many thanks to Martin Turner for his excellent and much appreciated reports from North Devon Match Group.

North Devon Match Groups Christmas Competition was held at Oaktree top and bottom lakes.

1st Kevin Shears 70lb 2oz

2nd Neilsen Jeffery 52lb 8oz

3rd Paul Elworthy 49lb 3oz

5th Keith Copland 34lb 13oz

6th Phil Watters 29lb 5oz.

15 anglers turned up for our final match of the year , Kevin continued his tremendous form with a convincing victory from the outlet peg on the bottom pond his all carp catch fell to maggot over micros , Neilsen drew on the top lake and his with corn on the pole for 2nd spot ,which also ensured that he wins Matchman of the Year , Paul’s 3rd place catch from the bottom lake means that he finished 2nd in the Championship.Despite the damp blustery conditions most people managed a few fish and all left with a prize, Thanks to everyone for attending the matches this year ,Happy , Christmas and lets do it all again next year, may your elastics stretch far!!

Bideford Monthly – Match Result

Final monthly Coarse section competition results  Sundays final match was also our Christmas comp, we fished at the club lake ,Tarka swims, .Competitors were met with challenging conditions, and one fish caught in the last minute of the comp proved to be enough to clinch victory, for Martin Turner the mirror carp of 8lb took popped up bread on the straight lead on peg J, this fish didn’t prove to be significant in the overall points table , John Lisle wins the championship with 118pts 2nd Martin Turner 115 3rd Steve Baily on 87 4th Colin Gorman 79 The league has been well supported with 26 competitors over the last 16 months, our league begins again on Jan 8th on Harepie.
