Combe Martin SAC member Kevin Legge continues to find the fish on the north Devon coastline, both by day and by night.
Bull huss of 10lb 3oz and a smoothhound of 10lb 7oz have featured in his latest catches which have also included dogfish, rockling and conger eels.
Kevin Legge secured first and second in Combe Martin Sea Angling Clubs Spring Rover landing a fine brace of bull Huss scaling 13lb 101/2oz and 11lb 8oz. The fish were tempted during heavy rain and were caught on consecutive casts. 
Both fish were retained in a large rock pool and returned after weighing and photographing in line with the clubs catch and release ethos.
Sea Anglers are having to dodge the storms to find quality fish along the coast. Great care needs to be taken when choosing where to fish during these difficult conditions with long handled nets and sound warm waterproof clothing essential.
Kevin Legge won Combe Martin SACs Winter Rover 1 with a fine specimen Bull Huss scaling 11lb 7oz. Mark Jones was runner up with a small eyed ray of 9lb 3oz and Kevin third with another Bull Huss of 8lb 11oz. Fishing was generally hard going with quality fish hard to find. Nick Phillips caught a pleasing pollock of 3lb 9oz for forth place and David Jenkins targeted estuary flounder to take fifth place with a flounder of 1lb 61/2oz. Members also caught codling, whiting, pouting, rockling, small conger and the inevitable dogfish.
BIDEFORD COD COMPETITION
Dick Talbot secured first and second place in Bideford Angling Clubs cod competition landing codling of 2lb 0.5oz and 1lb 12oz.
Shore Fishing has been difficult along the North Devon Shoreline with those big fish hard to find. Fish those prime marks with big baits and heavy tackle and the results will eventually come its just a case of being in the right place at the right time.
Nathan Clements ended 2019 with this fine conger of 26lb 9.5oz tempted from a North Devon Rock Mark.

As winter storms colour the water it’s time to don those waterproofs and get out in search of specimens. Kevin Legge found this near double figure huss on the feed during a recent trip to a rocky North Devon Shoreline.
As those autumn nights start to extend its time to get out on the shore with a big bait for bass, huss, conger and maybe a tope. Daniel Welch and Ross Stanway enjoyed a session fishing lively water to land an 8lb huss and a bass of 4lb plus.
Julian Stainer took top spot in Bideford Angling Clubs twenty four hour rover with a specimen bull huss of 11lb. Antony Smith was runner up with a thick lipped grey mullet of 3lb 15oz. Third was Graham Snow with a thick lipped grey mullet of 3lb 81/2oz.
Bull huss have been providing sport off Ilfracombe with Toby Bassett, Rob Scoines and Troy Laing amongst a successful part of anglers. These huss have some truly stunning markings.
Troy Laing (Below) was amongst a party of anglers enjoying great sport during the recent hot weather on Bluefin Off Ilfracombe. 
Members enjoyed great sport with bull huss during their Easter Boat Competition with calm seas and warm sunshine.
