OVER 50s Festival Stafford Moor

“Hi all oh what a fabulous week!
Just want to say how we have loved having you all here for our Over 50’s Festival 2021 sponsored by MOSELLA UK. Talking of MOSELLA UK can you believe that our sponsor has only gone and won the festival what a liberty !!! Anyone would think he’s a good fisherman ! Haha oh a huge Well done Vic Bush  amazing ! Vic won with a perfect score of just 4 points and a total weight of 427lb well done Vic well deserved 👍 🥇🏆thank you Vic for all the spot prizes kindly donated by yourself most appreciated and thank you for sponsoring our festival.
In second place with a score of just 5 points and a total weight of 560lb 2oz was Mark Layzell well done Mark 🥈
In third place with a score of 6 points and a total weight of 583lb 1oz was Clayton Hudson well done Clayton 🥉

Bideford Angling Club Evening competition No2

1st Steve Johnson 22lb 4oz

2nd Kevin Shears 21lb 10oz

3rd Nathan Underwood 16lb 5oz

19 fished A pleasant evening ,for a change, no rain although the breeze still has an edge. This 3hour event was won by Steve on peg 18 with a lovely net of skimmer bream caught at 5metres on dead red maggot, close second was last weeks winner Kevin on peg 22 a nice mixed net also to maggot on the pole. Nathan’s bag on peg 24 fell to corn in the margins.

North Devon Match Group Versus Bideford AC Report from John Forster
 At the mega Stafford Moor Fishery Friends we had the first interclub against Bideford AC
With the Draw being done with Bideford choosing the bag with even numbers and the 2 lakes being used being Willow and Woodpecker of we went ,i drew peg 1 on Woodpecker which is a bit of a hit and miss peg , however i liked the look of it and hoped for the best
as the match progressed there was a fair bit of banter flying between the carp boys who we re also fishing a match on the speci lake actually really nice guy ,
i had set up 3 pole lines and a hybrid line and started on the method hitting 2 in the first 15 minutes ,
The pole lines were very quiet so back onto the tip this was the story all the way through the match
I would liketo say a big thanks To Martin Turner for sorting this for Bideford
To Jo and Paul for all the work they put into making Stafford one of if not the best Fishery in the UK ,
But at the end of the day NDMG 200 PTS BIDEFORD 151 POINTS
at the end i weighed in 112lb 03 to win the section and Nathan Underwood had 133.07 to win the Lake ,

Bideford Angling Club – Midweek Evening Match

It’s good to see the return of Bideford Angling Clubs Evening Summer League series heralding those longer summer evenings. Im always dismayed at how quickly the series passes by ! Many thanks to Martin for his regular updates.

Coarse section Tarka swims evening match No.1

Results:

1st Kevin Shears 27lb 5oz

2nd Les Polden 26lb 12oz

3rd  Nathan Underwood 21lb 4oz

4th Steve Ashton 13lb 12oz

5th Martin Turner 13lb 10oz

16 fished. Kevin made the perfect start to the evening series with a lovely net of bream caught on peg 16 in the margins on corn. Les fished on peg 8 and added 2 good carp, late on , to a good net of smaller fish on maggot for a close 2nd. Nathan fished long pole on peg 4 for third spot. Steve’s net of smaller skimmers caught over So simple groundbait was enough for 4th place.

QUALIFIER 1 – Results
Great day had by all on Saturday:
With every section being won with over 25lb there was 700lb+ of silvers between 39 anglers.
Winner on the day was Paul Purchase, Paul was on peg 20 on the Cornwall bank, Paul fished for everything, caught a few nice perch, skimmers and roach (around 100 fish) for a 32lb 4oz total. Well done Paul.

Stafford Moor Latest Open Result

Open match today on Tanners and Woodpecker lakes with a continental payout.
Turned out to be  dry weather wise after early showers but still a really cold wind.
 Top weight of the day was from Nigel Rhodes who bagged 236lb 3oz from peg 1 on Woodpecker Lake.
Runner up was Chris Davis  212lb 9oz and third Martin Heard with 153lb 7oz from peg 18 on Woodpecker Lake.
The  next match is Wednesday May 12th (I only have a few spaces left) or next Sunday is looking so full it looks like it will be 3 lakes including the new mighty Oak ! Will be the first match since the works have all been done on Oak.
So please let Jo  know if you would like to enter.

Bideford and District Angling club coarse section monthly competition

The club were able to welcome Match-men back for the first match to be held on Tarka since last October. A mild day with a light SSW breeze ensured a close match. New member Paul made his first visit pay with a near 30lb net of good bream and a single carp on peg 19 for victory , second place went to regular Kevin on peg 4 with a pole caught net of smaller carp and bream, Steve on peg 20 just 2oz behind on peg 20 came 3rd. Thanks to all for abiding by our covid awareness guide.

Big Bags From Stafford Moor

The latest  open match at Stafford Moor was held on Tanners and Woodpecker Lakes with a full house and continental payout.
Sam Powell was top  angler with a bag of  261lb 15oz from peg 1 on Woodpecker lake fishing long pole.
In 2nd place was Paul Goulding (lodge guest) with 216lb 8oz from peg 4 on Tanners.
In 3rd place was Dave Romain with 182lb 7oz from peg 20 on Woodpecker
  Next weeks Sunday match is already full  but there are still have some  this Wednesday so please Jo at Stafford Moor know if you would like to join the match.
