North Devon Match Group fished at Upper Tamar where it proved  very tough going for most! very cold and with the wind forecast to blow hard onto the Cornish bank they decided to fish the early pegs on the Devon bank.   Paul Elworthy fished an outstanding match winning by a country mile with 29lb 15oz, skimmers on the tip did the trick with corn on the hook, next to Paul, Graham Colman fished the same and ended up with 16lb 8oz, Neilsen Jeffery finished third with mostly perch on the whip weighing 10lb 9 oz and last in the money was Benjamin Woods who weighed in 7lb 10oz on the tip from the goarse bush peg.

1st Martin Turner 33lb 3oz

2nd Thomas Scott (junior) 29lb

3rd John Lisle 20lb 6oz

4th Kevin Shears 18lb 9oz

5th Stephen Craker 13lb 6oz

6th Tyler Scott (junior) 12lb 15oz Joint

7th Nathan Underwood and Ian Sedgwick 12lb 6oz

16 anglers fished, Today’s match produced a very close result , Martin’s catch on peg R , was made up of 6 large carp, caught on 8mm pellets and bread, tipped the balance. Junior member Thomas Scott has really sorted out the notorious peg L and had a terrific bag of mainly carp on red maggots on the pole for second overall. John Lisle has come in third another carp net and fourth with a great net of silverfish and small carp was Kevin Shears. Fifth spot went to Stephen Craker a long pole and punch, Tyler Scott came in 6th. Weather was damp and breezy this seems to have encouraged the larger carp to feed.

Tackle Shops Essential for the Angling Community

Many thanks to the Summerlands Team for welcoming me into their treasure trove of fishing tackle to promote my book “I Caught A Glimpse”. It was an enjoyable couple of hours spent chatting with local anglers and reminded me of the importance of tackle shops in maintaining angling rich community.
