B.D.A.C Rod and Reel match results date 26.5.24 at Tarka. Today the weather was a bit sunny with a few showers and fishing was steady. 1st place today went to Richard jefferies on peg 10 with a weight of 34lbs 8oz mainly carp, 2nd place when to Stephen Paul Sheller on peg 6 with 33lbs 15oz and 3rd place was Keith copland on peg 8 with 23lbs 13oz. The next Rod and Reel match will be on the 23.6.24.

Hard to believe its got to that time of year already. So much so that I forgot to report on heat 1.

A rather damp evening proved tough going for some, Nathan has bounced back to form with a convincing victory from peg 13 , paste fished into the weed bed was his chosen tactic.
David has made a successful return with a lovely net of mainly silver fish on maggot from peg 8 for 2nd spot.
Mike has caught on worms on the pole on peg 5 for 3rd place.

George’s lake was the venue for our April competition, the sun shone and the birds sang ! Spring has finally sprung after a very wet period.
Committee member, Keith sat on peg 12 and fished the pole with corn over micros and caught a great net of mainly carp
Second spot went to, league leader, Nathan on peg 9
with another net of carp, this time on paste on the pole.
Darren moves up to 8th place in the year long league
with his third place mixed net on peg 21.
Stephen boosted his mixed bag ,off peg 4 , with a good carp , to take fourth place. His catch fell mainly to soft pellets and micros.

Winner of Stafford Moors first Open of the New season was Colin Horwood who bagged 241lb 3oz from peg 1 on Tanners.
In 2nd place was Steve Hayman with 209lb 6oz from peg 12 on Woodpecker lake
In 3rd place was Steve Shaw with 167lb 1oz from peg 16 on Tanners lake
In 4th place was lodge guest Paul Golding with 198lb 14oz from peg 11 on Woodpecker lake.

North Devon’s anglers will be shocked and saddened by the closure of Quay Sports. The shop has been a real boon to angling in North Devon over the past three years and its closure will certainly have a detrimental impact. I wish all at the Quay Sports the best for the future.
Due to rising costs and diminishing brand supplier margins the Quay Sports Fishing Tackle store will be closing permanently on Friday 5th July 2024.
The import, retail and wholesale side of the business will continue as normal as we have done for many years and we will look to expand this side of the business.
Gift cards will need to be redeemed in store prior to end of day Friday 5th of July 2024.
We will continue to stock bait up until this date.
We will be discounting ALL of the stock as from today by 10% so please pop in for a bargain.
Shop opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm until closure.

Stafford Moor Silvers Festival 2024
March Silvers Festival 2024 worthy winner at Stafford Moor winner was Ryan Shipp who scored a perfect 4 with a total weight of 178lb 6oz a huge well done to you Ryan.
In 2nd place was Geoff Vallence with a score of just 5 points and totall weight of 118lb 1oz.
In 3rd place was John Fuidge with 6 points and a total weight of 168lb 15oz.
Also John Fuidge won the largest weight of the week with 67lb 2oz from peg 11 on Woodpecker on day one.
Bideford & District Angling Club Presentation night
Bideford and District Angling Club held their presentation night at Bideford Conservative Club Friday February 23rd with close to forty members attending. I was privileged to join in presenting several awards along with Simon McCarthy from Summerlands Tackle. The evening was very enjoyable and a very positive vibe was apparent as members cheered the winners and added the occasional good natured banter to proceedings. It was very encouraging to hear of a very healthy number of Junior anglers taking part during the summer Coarse series. Many thanks to Adam Wheeler for taking some excellent pictures of the evening.
