Bull huss have been providing sport off Ilfracombe with Toby Bassett, Rob Scoines and Troy Laing amongst a successful part of anglers. These huss have some truly stunning markings.
Spring ray bring hope of summers nights ahead
Dan Waklbridge was delighted to catch this small eyed ray from a North Devon beach as dusk and low water coincided. Such catches bring optimism that results will be good in the popular forthcoming Putsborough Open.

Fine Lure Caught bass for Ross
Ross Stanway was delighted to land his first lure caught bass of year a handsome silver bar of 5lb 3oz that was tempted using a Dolive Stick.

Bideford and Appledore Shipbuilders Monthly Rover Results
Graham Snow secured victory in Bideford Angling Clubs monthly Rover landing a fine specimen thick lipped grey mullet of 4lb 113/4oz. Runner up was Antony Smith with a dogfish of 2lb 2oz and equal third were Phil Vanstone with a thornback ray of 5lb 7oz and Nathan Clements with a dogfish of 1lb 13oz.
Daniel Scott won Appledore Shipbuilders monthly rover with a fine small eyed ray of 10lb 51/2oz. In second was Josh Atkinson with a small eyed ray of 9lb 153/8oz and in third Graham Snow with his thick lipped mullet of 4lb 111/4oz.

Appledore Shipbuilders member Kevin Pike boated a new personal best smoothound of 17lb 6oz during his latest offshore excursion.
Huss wins spring rover – Club record turbot
Kevin Legge took top spot in Combe Martin SAC’s Spring Rover landing a specimen bull huss of 10lb 15oz. Mark Jones took the runner up spot with a new club shore record turbot scaling 4lb 4oz.Mark also took third place with a bass of 5lb 2oz. Members also landed numerous dogfish and several pollock fishing on a boat off Ilfracombe.
Smoothound are hunting the shoreline
Summer fishing has starting to take off with smoothound showing in good numbers from many North Devon marks. Whilst peeler crab is undoubtedly the top bait hardbacks can work just as well and have the advantage that they discourage the dogfish that seem to be about in plague proportions.
(Below) Kyle Blackmore has been enjoying some top rate sport from the North Devon Coast landing numerous smoothound to just under 10lb, a stunning bull huss and several codling and bass.
