Superb Carp from Trusty Waters

(Below )George West has been catching plenty of carp from Upper Tamar recently with these stunning fish being the best of the bunch. George caught the much sought after Linear at around 25.00 which was stocked in 2017. He has also had a cracking old mirror at 24lb12oz, a two tone chunky common at around 21lb  and a fully scaled mirror at 21lb  Fantastic rewards, well done George…..

 

 

(Below)Steve Gliddon has been among the action at Melbury reservoir near Bideford, Devon. Steve landed a new PB for the water, a 23.10 common along with a long hard fighting 15.08 common that wiped all his rods out and a surface caught common of 12.02. wafters fished over a good scattering of boilies did the trick for Steve.

Some Furzebray Crackers

Some stunning fish have been banked at Furzebray now that the carp have finished spawning.

(Below) Mark Downing with a stunning 21lb 12oz home grown mirror from the Lawns.. This is one of 5 for Mark last night which included the leather at 30+

(Below) Glen Stanton with two crackers from the Island lake before spawning, The rudd mouth linear at 29+ and Measles at 34+

(Below)Chris Bissett also fished on the Copse last week and banked some lovely fish including a 29lb 12oz and a 20+ Zip.

A peach of a carp from Upper Tamar

Well done to Jonathon Holdaway who has banked ‘The Peach’ from Upper Tamar at just under 32lbs. This smashed his PB by 7lbs and was part of a two fish catch which included a 16.12 common both caught on Sticky Manilla pop ups tipped with a small pink krill pop up. The 20 hour session was successful after a move at 6am after hearing fish crashing……..

Stafford Moor – Carp Catches

(Above)Ryan Turner banked six fish out up to 27lb from the beach swim on Beatties lake this weekend, all caught on Sticky Baits Krill and bloodworm boilies, Ryan was using KD rigs and fished out in the open water.

(Above)Lee Jordan banked five fish  from swim 6 (the outlet swim) on lodge lake all caught on Sticky baits krill boilies and pva bags with crushed boilies.

Spawning Time for regions Carp

The next best thing to actually fishing is watching fish and with water temperatures climbing carp are spawning at many lakes across the region. This gives the unique opportunity to do a bit of fish watching and to get a good look at what the venue contains. Kris Vanstone sent me this video of Lower Tamar lakes carp in full courtship ritual. At times like this the carp seldom feed and are best left in peace.

Historic Lower Tamar

Lower Tamar Lake is an historic water that often gets overlooked by anglers who hear more about the fabulous catches from the Upper Lake. Lower Tamar has some fabulous carp and a head of bream into double figures along with specimen perch and eels. In the past the water has produced specimen rudd that sadly seem to have all but disappeared.

Lee Graver fished Lower Tamar Lake, on the Cornwall and Devon border, at the weekend and was rewarded with this stunning 23lb 14oz Fully scaled mirror. Lower Tamar is open to everyone for day or 24 hour tickets.
