Bideford & District Angling Club – Junior Competition Round 2 Result

All credit to Bideford Angling Club in organising this fabulous competition for the clubs Junior members. many thanks to Martin Turner for the report.

   BDAC Junior Competition No2 held today at Tarka swims .

Results:Over 14s

1st Tyler Scott 11lb 10oz

2nd Thomas Scott 10lb 12oz

3rd Joe Westcott 5lb 13oz

4th Adam Wheeler  1lb 10oz

Under 14’s

1st Brodie Allin 9lb 10oz

2nd Thomas Conibear 2lb 15oz

3rd Harry Mounce 2lb.

Lovely afternoon for this 3 hour event held on the shallower pegs on Georges lake , the Scott brothers shared the top spots again , with Tyler coming out best this time on peg 25 , a nice bag of tench crucians and rudd topped off with a 5lb carp. Thomas was second with mainly skimmers on peg 5. Star of the show was 6 year old Brodie on his first match, winning the under 14’s off peg 2 with a great net of fish all caught on a short pole .We must again thank Summerlands and Bait Tek for their kind support with prizes.

Evening Comp. No. 5 Tarka swims, results:

1st Les Polden  23lb 7oz

2nd Antony Bentley 22lb 9oz

3rd  Steve Johnson 22lb 6oz

4th Martin Turner 21lb 7oz

5th Kevin Shears 15lb 8oz

6th Tyler Scott 14lb 10oz .

19 anglers fished , conditions were perfect and winner tonight is, veteran, Les on peg 4 with a lovely bag of roach to add to his carp net . Second spot was filled by Benny with an all bream catch on corn from peg 11 , Consistent Steve made 3rd on peg 18 with a skimmer bream net on short pole with maggot.

2nd  Steve Johnson 23lb 3oz

Conditions very hot light southerly , Georges lake at Tarka swims produced another good match Nathan drew peg 26 in the shallow end and put a terrific net of smaller carp ,tench and a couple of larger bonus carp ,on the scales for a convincing victory. All caught on the pole to corn. Steve’s net of silver fish from peg 20 secured second place. Kevin fished the pole with maggot from peg 12 for third. These 3 anglers now dominate the league after 2 matches .

Mild evening with rain showers , has produced some good weights , the best was Steve’s superb bag of silver fish on caster over groundbait on peg 21, Steve’s maggot on pole catch included several good bream from the margins on peg 16 took 2nd place , Nathan’s peg 6 catch of skimmers was third and ensures, that approaching the halfway point , he retains his league lead. Richard has caught late on the method feeder for 4th.

19 fished . Warm , overcast conditions led to another close match, Nathan bettered his 2 second places with a win on this, the 3rd match of our evening series. He has caught a great net of silver fish shallow on the pole on peg 19 and added a decent carp late on. Steve’s peg 12 has produced some better skimmers for second, Tom made a long overdue return and promptly took 3rd prize on peg 8 another net of good quality skimmers on meat.

Richard Boon took the victory with a Smoothound exactly 10lb.
Second was Steve Ford with a Gilthead Bream of 3lb 13ozs and 3rd was Terry Dymond with a Smoothound of 7lb 14ozs.

Bideford Angling Club – Junior Event

Bideford Angling Club held the first of their Summer fishing events at Tarka Swims. Great to see a good number of juniors coming into fishing. Well done to Bideford for such a sterling effort.

Our junior members enjoyed the 3 hour afternoon event on the shallower pegs, conditions were warm and overcast.Tom landed a late carp on peg 22 to secure victory, older brother Tyler had a good mixed net on peg 23 for second, just pipping Adam in to third. Many thanks to our helpers and a special thank you to Tom Downing for securing a fine box of prizes from BaitTech also thanks to Summerlands of Westward Ho!

19 fished A pleasant evening ,for a change, no rain although the breeze still has an edge. This 3hour event was won by Steve on peg 18 with a lovely net of skimmer bream caught at 5metres on dead red maggot, close second was last weeks winner Kevin on peg 22 a nice mixed net also to maggot on the pole. Nathan’s bag on peg 24 fell to corn in the margins.

North Devon Match Group Versus Bideford AC Report from John Forster
 At the mega Stafford Moor Fishery Friends we had the first interclub against Bideford AC
With the Draw being done with Bideford choosing the bag with even numbers and the 2 lakes being used being Willow and Woodpecker of we went ,i drew peg 1 on Woodpecker which is a bit of a hit and miss peg , however i liked the look of it and hoped for the best
as the match progressed there was a fair bit of banter flying between the carp boys who we re also fishing a match on the speci lake actually really nice guy ,
i had set up 3 pole lines and a hybrid line and started on the method hitting 2 in the first 15 minutes ,
The pole lines were very quiet so back onto the tip this was the story all the way through the match
I would liketo say a big thanks To Martin Turner for sorting this for Bideford
To Jo and Paul for all the work they put into making Stafford one of if not the best Fishery in the UK ,
But at the end of the day NDMG 200 PTS BIDEFORD 151 POINTS
at the end i weighed in 112lb 03 to win the section and Nathan Underwood had 133.07 to win the Lake ,
