Our junior members have enjoyed a pleasant afternoon on George’s lake. Weather was warm and dry with a brisk North Westerly breeze.
The fish proved tricky, but every youngster caught in the end . Our winner on the day, in her first match was our youngest competitor Thea , with a little help from Uncle Craig , they fished peg 25 on the pole.
Second placed Ethan, also on his first competition, fished punched bread with a 3metre whip on peg 20.
Ted took third place fishing on peg 2 .

Bideford & District Angling Club Rod N Reel Match Result

B.D.A.C Rod and Reel match results date 26.5.24 at Tarka. Today the weather was a bit sunny with a few showers and fishing was steady. 1st place today went to Richard jefferies on peg 10 with a weight of 34lbs 8oz mainly carp, 2nd place when to Stephen Paul Sheller on peg 6 with 33lbs 15oz and 3rd place was Keith copland on peg 8 with 23lbs 13oz. The next Rod and Reel match will be on the 23.6.24.

Bideford & District Angling Club Midweek Series Heat 2

Hard to believe its got to that time of year already. So much so that I forgot to report on heat 1.

14 members fished.
A rather damp evening proved tough going for some, Nathan has bounced back to form with a convincing victory from peg 13 , paste fished into the weed bed was his chosen tactic.
David has made a successful return with a lovely net of mainly silver fish on maggot from peg 8 for 2nd spot.
Mike has caught on worms on the pole on peg 5 for 3rd place.

APPLEDORE SHIPBUILDERS MAY ROVER

13 fished the May rover today.
Most of the Anglers targeted Smoothound and Rays but many reported large catches of small dogfish instantly taking the baits..
Kevin Pike did manage to catch 2 Smoothounds and these were big enough to secure first and second places. These went 7lb 11ozs and 8lb 5ozs. Josh Atkinson secured 3rd place with a Dogfish of 1lb 14ozs.

1st Andrew Clements  Bull Huss 12lb 9oz 125.625%

2nd Graham Snow  Thicklipped Mullet 3lb 6oz 84.375%

3rd Graham Snow Thicklipped Mullet 3lb 4oz 81.250% 

Bull huss from Ilfracombe

Combe Martin SAC member Paul Lorrimore landed a personal best bull huss of 12lb 5oz whilst fishingf an Ilfracombe shore mark.

 

Combe Martin SAC Junior member Lenny Lake fished from John Barbeary’s Bluefin out of ilfracombe to boat a fine bull huss of 12lb 2oz.

Billy Evans won Appledore Shipbuilders league competition with a smoothound of 9lb 6oz. Andrew Atkinson was runner up with a smoothound of 9lb 0.25oz and Graham Snow third with a thick lipped grey mullet of 3lb 6oz.

Bideford and District Angling Club – Welcomes game fishing enthusiasts

Bideford Angling Club welcomes game fishing members to join in friendly competitions at waters across the South West. Like many club’s recruitment of younger anglers into Fly Fishing is in need of a boost. The club has access to a prime stretch of the River Torridge with salmon, sea trout and wild brown trout fishing. Adult membership is just £12.50

            The club holds six regular competitions from March through until August.

A cold north westerly breeze blowing up towards the shallows greeted the competitors for this, the second match of our year-long league.

The old order was restored with the Kevin and Nathan show.!

Kev’s drawn peg 15 , one of the more sheltered spots , and pole fished maggots and sweetcorn hookbaits for a clear victory, Nathan, defending league champion , has fished on peg 9 , for second spot.
