Bideford and District Angling Club Coarse Section September monthly competition

22 anglers fished.
The weather held and we enjoyed a mild day with a southerly breeze. The ‘unstoppable’ Nathan has drawn the golden peg 18, and fished his paste on the long pole technique for yet another victory!
John ,on peg 13, fell just short for his second place, another pole and paste carp net.
Keith was best of the rest off peg 11, another carp net this time cage feeder and maggot.
Paul’s trip up from Tiverton produced the best silvers net to pole and maggot on peg 6, and 4th spot.
The league leader ,Craig ,saw his lead reduced to just 2 points, to in form Nathan.

This evening’s 3hour event was won by Kevin on peg 2 in the shallower end , his mixed bag was taken on caster and maggot on the pole, Martin’s second place net off peg 19 was made up of mainly bream and tench.
Stephen fished on peg 4 with soft pellet for 3rd. Nathan’s joint 4th with Les insurers he retains pole position in the league with 2 matches remaining.

August Monthly competition Tarka Swims Results:

1st Kevin Shears 47lb 9oz

2nd Nathan Underwood 33lb 13oz

3rd Colin Cherrington 29lb 10oz

4th Les Polden  26lb 10oz

6th Tyler Scott  26lb 3oz

7th David Anstey  25lb 4oz

20 fished . Tarka has again produced a fantastic match, dominated by in form Kevin who again drew peg 19 . His worm and groundbait approach on the short pole proved perfect. Nathan , despite lossing several carp, finished second using similar tactics on peg 16. Colin on peg 1 ended up third with a mainly carp net from the shallower peg. The drop in temperature and brisk westerly did little to stop fish from feeding , our next match is ,as always , the second Sunday of the month.

SEA ANGLING ROUND UP

Cold North and East winds combined with high pressure seldom bring good results for sea anglers at this time of year. The wind is forecast to back to the South later in the month when sport should improve.

1st Dick Talbot flounder 1lb 7oz

Dick caught his brace of flounder from the River Torridge estuary to win first and second in the clubs. monthly rover.

Triple Hook Club Suspend competitions.

Barnstaple’s Triple Hook Club have made the decision to suspend all competitions until 2021 when the COVID situation has eased.

Combe Martin SAC

Combe Martin SAC are holding a monthly competitions for the first half of their club year. At present Rob Sciones is leading the event with a small eyed ray of 9lb 10oz.

A Message from Bideford Angling Club

Pete Skinner of Bideford & District Angling Club contacted me and asked me to stress that despite the closure of the clubhouse. Bideford and District Angling Club is very much still in existence, still running sea, game and coarse competitions and the Tarka swims lakes complex is still open and taking new memberships. All renewals and applications for membership can be made at Anglers Heaven, Market Place, Bideford. By kind consent of Tom Wade. Bideford and District Coarse Section Monthly Competition.

Martin Turner reports –

11 anglers turned out for our January Comp at Harepie, conditions were mild and damp. Winner Paul Morris found a shoal of carp and caught 9 fish on corn at 14 metres . John Lisle had 3 carp on maggot for 2nd he maintains his lead in the overall league.

Lee Watts  said a massive thank you for the turn out Bideford & District Angling Club enjoyed on Sunday with 46 senior entry’s and 6 juniors. A very tough day for all competitors today with more wood in the river than fish. A massive well done to Taz and his mum cleaning up (lucky gits) and well done to both juniors for putting fish on the scales.

Our next open comp is the Christmas comp on the 11th Dec be great to see u all there!
