Stafford Moor Fine Carp Catches in the first week of May

Below are just a few of the carp banked by anglers fishing the ever prolific Stafford Moor in the past week.

(Below)Wayne Grinney  fished on the beach swim on Beatties lake with Matt McCarthy and had 12 fish out between them caught on home made boilies and house pellet.

(Below)  Nicholas Billet fished on theback bays on Beatties lake to bank 8 fish  including a fab common and ghostie all caught on Sticky Baits Krill boilies.

(Below)James Richard Russell who fished  with friend Colin on the summer hut swim on Beatties lake and had 9 fish out caught on Sticky Baits Krill & Occy.

(Below) Brandon and his dad Barry King  had a couple of fish out from the summer hut swim on Beatties lake, Brandon was using Nash strawberry crush pop ups on a Ronnie rig and dad was using Sticky Baits Manilla on a hair rig.

( Below) Bruce Julian who fished for 3 nights & had 25 fish out from the inlet swim on Beatties lake. Bruce caught his fish on Mainline cell, Tutti frutti & Krill boilies.

(Below)Callum Gardiner fished on the inlet swim on Beatties lake and had 11 fish out up to 26lb 9oz all caught on Cc Moore live system boilies.

Carp, Catfish and other fish in Paradise

Ian Northey who caught this beauty – a 28lb Mirror from our popular Day Ticket Venue Anglers Eldorado Bottom Cat and Carp Lake.

He’s now the new Carp record holder as it’s the biggest to date from this Lake!

(Below) Congratulations to Paul Dunstall who caught a personal best 56lb 8oz Catfish from the Main Carp Lake.

Paul caught the monster Wels Catfish on a 15mm Krill boilie.

(Below) Matt Hayes with a beautiful and rare 5lb Koi Orfe.

(Below)FISH OF THE WEEK WINNER 3RD MAY IS…

Ben Gregory who caught a personal best 5lb 8oz Golden Tench from the Specimen Tench and Orfe Lake.

Ben’s story –

“I’d already had quite a good day on the lake having had 13 Tench and 1 Barbel. However despite my friend Mitchell’s pleads to leave because it was pretty cold, we persisted for another 30mins and I had one final bend in the rod from the lily pads. The biggest was saved to last on a robin red pellet. My new personal best at 5lbs 8oz! It’s been a great week, we hope to get back soon!”

WELL DONE BEN – ANOTHER GREAT WINNING CATCH AND PROOF THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE UP TOO SOON!!

Bideford and Appledore Shipbuilders Monthly Rover Results

Graham Snow secured victory in Bideford Angling Clubs monthly Rover landing a fine specimen thick lipped grey mullet of 4lb 113/4oz. Runner up was Antony Smith with a dogfish of 2lb 2oz and equal third were Phil Vanstone with a thornback ray of 5lb 7oz and Nathan Clements with a dogfish of 1lb 13oz.

Daniel Scott won Appledore Shipbuilders monthly rover with a fine small eyed ray of 10lb 51/2oz. In second was Josh Atkinson with a small eyed ray of 9lb 153/8oz and in third Graham Snow with his thick lipped mullet of 4lb 111/4oz.

Caught on the yellow CR Baits mini peach, pineapple & N-Butyric yellow wafters.

Stafford Moor Match Report

Match Report from Jo Combes at the prolific Stafford Moor.

Hi all had our open match here at Stafford Moor on Tanners and Woodpecker lakes today. Had a Continental payout.

Glorious day of sunshine except for that cold chill in the air today alright if you on the sunny side of the bank.

Our top weight of the day was from Paul Morris Who bagged himself 173lb 8oz from peg 1 on Tanners fishing 8mm pellet on the deck at 13mtrs.

In second place with 148lb 1oz was Phil Hardwick peg 5 on Woodpecker.

In third place with 129lb 14oz was Martin Heard (MOSELLA UK) from peg 20 Tanners.

In forth place with 139lb 6oz was Mark Layzell peg 8 on Woodpecker.

In 5th place with 92lb 2oz was Mark Hayman peg 15 Tanners.

In 6th place with 131lb 12oz was Dave Stockton peg 17 on Woodpecker.

North Devon Match Group Summer League No. 2 @ Upper Tamar Devon Bank Results

18 members of the North Devon Match Group gathered on the banks of the South West Lakes Trust Upper Tamar Lake to fish their 2nd summer League match ,Conditions, although bright, wererather chilly in the NNW breeze. Pete drew end peg down the Devon arm and fished at 5metres to amass 250 mainly roach he has fed 2 pints of casters and similar amount of hempseed plus the odd nugget of groundbait for victory, just beating Paul, by 1oz ! Paul has drawn to the right of the gorse bush and fish his favoured Micros and corn feeder approach for a nice net of better skimmers, Third spot went to Martin next peg to Pete using similar tactics.Section winners were Chris Morris and Shaun Stenton both adopted feeder tactics.

Trout in a frosty dawn!

Many thanks to Exmoor Fly Fishing for allowing me to use their report on the latest South West Fishing for Life trip to Wimbleball.

Today was the monthly meet for SWFFL ….South West Fishing For Life…this takes place at Wimbleball Reservoir. A massive vote of thanks should go to Mark Underhill and the team that now operate the fishing, the place has been totally transformed. Mark graciously lets the ladies fish there, the fishing is superb, the hard fighting Rainbows that one of the ladies encountered on a very cold, clear and frosty morning are testament to his hard work and foresight….the early “bird” certainly catches the worm……

Huss wins spring rover – Club record turbot

Kevin Legge took top spot in Combe Martin SAC’s Spring Rover landing a specimen bull huss of 10lb 15oz. Mark Jones took the runner up spot with a new club shore record turbot scaling 4lb 4oz.Mark also took third place with a bass of 5lb 2oz. Members also landed numerous dogfish and several pollock fishing on a boat off Ilfracombe.
