Paradise carp

(Above)Ian Fowler caught a 38lb 4oz Mirror from our Day Ticket Kracking Carp Lake at Nirvana. Ian caught the big Mirror with a trimmed down Element hook bait on a running rig size 8 barbless hook on soft braid fished 12 metres from bank in swim 1. Ian also caught this lovely 26lb 3oz Linear Carp from the Specimen Carp Lake. Ian caught the beauty using The Element by Denham baits presented as a snowman fished on a 3oz running rig, size 6 barbless hook to N’trap soft hooklink placed beside some lillies on the island margin.

(Above) Matthew Colegate completely smashed the Main Carp Lake catching a variety of Carp! Mathew caught Mirrors of 20lbs 6oz, 20lbs 4oz, 19lbs 10oz, 17lbs 14oz, 17lbs 8oz, 16lbs 14oz and a 19lb 6oz Common, all in immaculate condition. All fish were caught on a simple blow back rig with A2 Baits Fruity Fish Wafter over A2 Baits Fruity Fish freebies with a couple of handfuls of corn.

 

(Above) Nick Rayment also joined in on the action and caught himself a 24lb 4oz Mirror from the Main Carp Lake on Mainline Cell.

Blakewell – Spring Open

Twenty Five anglers fished in Blakewell’s Spring Open and good sport was enjoyed as the venues hard fighting rainbows seized the various fly’s on offer. Robert Turner won the competition with a six fish bag weighing 20lb 7oz. The bag included trout of 6lb 14oz and 5lb 7oz. In runner up spot was Pete Rorstad with six for 19lb 9oz and in third Gary Matthews with 18lb 6oz. Most of the twenty-five competitors landed their six fish limits with a good number of four pound plus fish brought to the scales.

The event was punctuated by a lunchtime BBQ provided by Blakewell.

The next few weeks are amongst the most enjoyable time to fish these small still-waters with fresh green foliage all around crystal clear water and free rising trout. Blakewell also has a well stocked tackle shop with many of Snowbee’s latest products.

Charlie Harvey caught this 32lb 12oz Mirror known as ‘The Peach’ from Upper Tamar using a sticky Manilla boilie coated in korda wondaberry supreme on a chod rig at 70 yards range with a few boilies scatters as freebies.

Top Smoothound Sport

The smoothound season has burst upon us with some superb catches from recognized marks all along the North Devon Coastline.

Combe Martin SAC member Kody Chugg enjoyed a great session with smoothound landing twelve of the hard fighting members of the shark family to 10lb 4oz.

(Below) Paul Hutchings landed seven hounds to 12lb 14oz.

 

 

 

Stafford Moor Open – Junior Angler Success

An Open match  on Tanners and Woodpecker lakes. Had a full house of 40 anglers.

The weather was a horrible cold easterly wind with temperatures around 8 degrees today where is Spring !

Had a continental payout. Top weight of the day was from Ben Benjamin Broxson peg 19 on Tanners lake with 167lb 14oz fishing bomb and pellet and pole well done Ben ! In second place was Andy Dare peg 11 on woodpecker lake with 101lb 4oz, in third place was Chris Davis with 107lb 5oz from peg 2 on Tanners lake.

 

Its always great to see young anglers enjoying success as 13 year old Owen Newman did in this competition finishing a very creditable sixth and winning the silvers bag!
